Nagoshi shares scant Yakuza 5 details
Plus: Nagoshi sleeps with his cat.

Yakuza Studio head Toshihiro Nagoshi held his “Nagonama” live broadcast on Nico Nico Douga, earlier today, where he shared new information about Yakuza 5, as well as other, more personal things.

Yakuza 5, said Nagoshi, is set in two cities: Kamurocho, and another city, whose possible candidates are Sapporo, Nagoya, Osaka, and Fukuoka. He wouldn’t share information on the game’s number of playable characters–he would not rule out the possibility of either one, or multiple characters.

Kazuma Kiryu, Yakuza frontman and series protagonist, will be the main character. A Yakuza without Kazuma is like a Super Mario Brothers game without Mario, said Nagoshi.

Like Yakuza games before it, Yakuza 5 will have a hostess component. Though, they haven’t decided on whether they’ll hold auditions again.

Nagoshi wants to create a “zero chapter” to the series, set in the Tojo Clan’s past.

In other, more Nagoshi-personal details, he revealed his favorite vegetable is tomatoes, he likes gummy candy, is confident in his singing talent, and sleeps with his cat.

Thanks, Hachimaki.

    I love the Yakuza games. Hope the other city is Kyoto.

    shame, I was hoping for a brand new protagonist

    I hope they go back into the samurai days again. This time leave the underage prostitution out of it, so it can come to the states.

      @captainhowdy: Lol…it wouldn’t be realistic then!

    @Kougeru

    It can still be realistic without the underage prostitution :-). It’s unique game, that’s why I like it. The zombie version and samurai era one really peaked my interest in the series. Were getting the zombie one but the samurai era one sadly isn’t coming over :-( , that’s the one I really wanted.

    I been to Osaka and Fukuoka. They are both pretty different from each other. It really sounds like its way up in the air since they have a Sapporo up there too.
