Two new Tales. Two Sony handhelds.

New developments surrounding the upcoming Tokyo Game Show Tales announcement (or announcements, in today’s case) have surfaced.

According to Japanese internet sleuth PecpvbY4, who regularly posts leaked information from the latest V-Jump, Namco will announce two new Tales games at the Tokyo Game Show.

The first is a new PSP game called Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave for PSP. The second is a remake, Tales of Innocence R, for PlayStation Vita.

As pointed out by Abyssal Chronicles, the domain toi-r.namco-ch.net is working, but returning “403 Forbidden” warnings. A domain such as toter.namco-ch.net (a made-up acronym) simply doesn’t load.

Scans of the games have yet to surface.

Thanks, Hachimaki.

    Oh…mygod.

    I.

    LOVE. Tales of Innocence. Wonderful, wonderful game. That enough is a reason for me to get a Vita. Wonderful, wonderful news.

    Interested to see some screenshots/footage of the games, but yes, I highly doubt either of these will get localised.

    I wonder how much they’ll enhance the visuals for the Innocence remake.. will be interesting.

      @AdamBoy64:
      Allow me to disagree; I think Namco Bandai is changing the way they handle localizations when it comes to the Tales of series (namely, actually bringing these games to the west instead of keeping them in Japan).

      Actually, I don’t see a reason for a remake/port of Tales of Innocence if that wasn’t their intention. They did mention back then that they would bring some past tales of games to handheld systems outside of Japan to bring more tales of gamers into the series (if memory serves me right).

        @FaithlessMr: I think ToI-R will do very well in Japan on Vita. Well, I’d love to be proven wrong about no handheld titles making it over. I guess what I’m going off is what they’ve done in the past.

        I don’t have much hope for any handheld Tales making it out of Japan (Abyss being a recent exception – the large majority of the work being done probably made it easier).

        Though I’m kind of confused with the delay of Abyss 3DS – they would have had a near-captive 3DS market in the West if they had released it this year.

        • FaithlessMr

          @AdamBoy64:
          Wasn’t the delay just for the US version of the game? For some reason, I think the EU version is stlill slated for a November release, even tho it makes little sense.

          If I could only find the article in which they said that….I think it was in that Tales of showing in the Japan Expo this year at Paris. They said they were looking into re-releasing some past Tales games in handhelds, and since they were saying that at the Japan Expo at Paris, I can only assume they do have plans for porting these games over. Ofc, the sales of Abyss 3D and Graces F will most likely have a say on the whole process, but let’s keep hoping for the best!

            @FaithlessMr: Oh man, if the Abyss 3DS delay is just for the US Region, that’d be pretty awful. And yes, not make a great deal of sense.

            If anyone knows of any article or source to confirm or deny that, that’d be great.
