A major Mass Effect 3 announcement is planned for this week, EA.com editor-in-chief Andy Katkin has teased.
Liveblogging today’s Electronic Arts Vegas Game Show, Katkin wrote: “Aaryn Flynn, General Manager, BioWare Edmonton is now on stage to talk about Mass Effect 3. Unfortunately the [Mass Effect 3] presentation is also under embargo so we won’t be able to share the news being announced here at the Vegas Game Show. Sorry folks!”
Katkin was kindhearted enough to offer a hint, however.
“I’ll give you a hint… its big news that a lot of you have been eagerly awaiting. Check back in a few days for more on this exciting announcement.
According to Katkin, the news isn’t far off.
“I don’t believe the embargo date has been made public, but I think I can go out on a limb and say soon… within the week!”
Stay tuned.

Update next day 1:05pm: Okay, never mind. Looks like whatever the news is, it won’t be revealed in the “immediate future.”
“I think I need to step in here as the expectations seem to be quite high,” wrote BioWare community manager Chris Priestly on the BioWare forums. “There is no ‘big announcement coming this week’. This was speculation from a guy who works at EA who was at the event in question. There is lots of cool Mass Effect 3 information still to come between now and March 6, but there is no planned ‘big announcement’ or whatever planned for the immediate future.”
On the subject of it being a multiplayer unveil, Priestly commented: “Another day, another rumor. I’ll be over here awaiting your inevitable disappointment when your rumors don’t happen or pan out as you think they will.”
Thanks, NeoGAF.
