The first screenshot of Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online, announced in Tokyo this morning for Wii and Wii U, has been released.

The image highlights Dragon Quest X‘s retained use of the series’ simple interface. At least 11 player characters can be seen on screen.

Alternatively, the screenshot can also be found at the gallery.

Dragon Quest X will launch for Wii in 2012. The Wii U release is currently TBA.

Why so many wii DQ games, make a PS3 one -_- geez.

  • FaithlessMr

Looks really bad :( The other screenshots actually looked better. And I don’t mean graphically. I’m simply not used to the idea of DQ games being played like a MMORPG of sorts, that screen looks awfully crowded and cluttered.

Oh well, if it plays anything like DQ IX then it will be good. But I’d prefer a traditional, offline Dragon Quest game.

@FaithlessMr: you can play it offline

      • FaithlessMr

For like five hours into the game only, you can’t play it from start to finish offline.

I won’t be complaining if we end up getting the game without any adittional monthly fees though; Some say one of the PSP Monster Hunter games had monthly fees in Japan and the game didn’t in the west, so it might happen.

        Let’s wait and see.

@FaithlessMr: Yes to me at least I’m looking forward to this but They JUST announced the game so let’s wait and see more of the game before we saw FUCK THIS GAME you know.

Why they stick to nintendo systems is beyond me…

    • Sal Romano

      @hush404: Dude’s got a point.

      - Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS)
      - Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 2 (DS)
      - Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime (DS)
      - Dragon Quest Wars (DSiWare)
      - Dragon Quest IX (DS)
      - Dragon Quest: Monster Battle Road Victory (Wii)
      - Dragon Quest Swords (Wii)
      - Dragon Quest X (Wii/Wii U)

And those are just the recent ones.

Dragon Quest games always had this tradition to show up on the most popular systems. Since this gen Nintendo started off greatly sales wise, makes sense that most of the DQ games ever since DQ VIII have been appearing on Nintendo systems.

The only instances in which the DQ games appeared on non-nintendo platforms were DQ VII (PS1) and DQ VIII (PS2). Which happened to be the most popular consoles back in it’s own gen (sales wise and all that jazz).

*facepalm* The idea of “Wii + internet” doesn’t sit right with me. I’m sure I’m underestimating the console, I just don’t have faith in it’s abilities -_-

  • Noctionus

    You must be kidding, SE…

  • Keegs79

I saw video of it and it looked pretty good but regardless its a MMORPG which throws my interest for the game out the window.

    “What the hell, it’s online?”

    “It’s for the Wi!!!”

    “Online and for the Wii…”

    “Seriously, it’s online?”

    “Seriously, 5 races?”

    “It’s an online game…”

    “An MMO…”

    “Not an online game, please.”

“I can forgive it being online. But an online game for the Wii? No.”

  • dart2087

    I feel somewhat disappointed. : (

  • KingdomPersona
