More Joe Danger is on the way. Following the release of the multi-award winning PlayStation Network title, developer Hello Games have announced a sequel, titled Joe Danger: The Movie, to be unveiled at Gamescom in Cologne next week.
“It’s called Joe Danger: The Movie and it’s kind of a sequel to Joe Danger, but it’s also something entirely new,” said Hello Games managing director Sean Murray. “I guess I would say that the entire gameplay experience of Joe Danger on PSN, would be just one short scene in this new game.”
Joe will be a lot more versatile in his sequel.
“Joe has become a success by the end of the first game, and this one starts with him being discovered by a mysterious Hollywood director. Picture every film you’ve ever loved as a kid, from Rambo to Short Circuit to the Goonies, all cut together into some crazy montage, and that’s basically the script for our game.”
Players will create their own action film, performing their own stunts and “creating probably the most ridiculous action sequences ever made.” If you succeed your stunts, the audience will cheer. If you fail, they’ll crack up laughing.
“We’ve kind of gone a bit crazy in terms of ideas and scope, or at least I really hope we have,” said Murray. “If you liked Joe Danger, then I think it’s going to rock your world. Even if you didn’t like it though, this is different enough that we might just win you over. That’s the idea, but like I say who knows, it’s a very different game, and no one but us has seen it yet.”
While Hello Games is remaining “tight-lipped” on the title’s platform, they promise “some surprises” at Gamescom. A poster of the game, released alongside the announcement, says “coming soon to consoles everywhere,” suggesting it’s a multiplatform affair.
