The next Xbox will make its debut at E3 2012, according to a VideoGamer report. TimeSplitters 4, from Crytek UK (formerly Free Radical), will be a launch title.
A “high-ranking industry source” within Crytek tipped off the site, saying TimeSplitters 4 was being shown privately in video form at E3 2011, last week. The source wouldn’t let any details slip regarding the specs, though mentioned that TimeSplitters 4 is running on DirectX 11, which is Crytek’s primary focus on new consoles. DirectX 11 will have a large impact on the CryEngine 3, which the developer sees as the cornerstone of next-generation game development.
As a game, TimeSplitters 4 will reportedly feature branching paths, exploration, and sandbox-style gameplay elements.
The source believes Microsoft will launch its next console ahead of Sony’s yet again, though Crytek also investing resources into PlayStation 4 development.

Saw that coming, only make sense cause in 2013 they will be all out of steam!
Hmm.. let’s hope the price is reasonable.
The price won’t be reasonable after you add on Xbox Live fees.
If LIVE’s price won’t change then I can afford 40 euros a year for the service.
TimeSplitters 4 interests me more than a new console, honestly.
Like I’ve said many times in the past — I’m not ready for a new Xbox / PlayStation. Leave me be with my Xbox 360, PS3, and soon — Wii U — for the next few years.
Is this news related to the new xbox ever present at the EA office ??
I heard it at gematsu too if i am not mistaken…..

Not sure if there’s any relation. These are all just rumors, anyhow.
You said it, Sal.
I’ll take a PS4 in Fall 2013, but no earlier.
IF this rumor is true, then it basically destroys all the incentive i have to even consider the wii U. but i am still waiting for sony’s ps4 of course. After red ring of death incident i will never purchase a M$ product on day-one.
They need to go out and try and rebuild their first party studios, aka Microsoft Game Studios.
Who cares how great the hardware is, if the software stinks, I’m not going to rush out and buy it on day one.
Nintendo has always been strong when it comes to first party, and Sony is very strong these days.
I don’t think MS can live off bought out timed exclusives from 3rd party developers anymore.
Don’t think I’ll buy any console at launch next gen. Gonna keep playing PS3 through next year at least and probably the year after.
Until the current systems peak…I’m really not looking into any successors. It seem like this Gen still has life.
My Xbox360 broke and I’m thinking of geting another one or just focus on my PS3. I like my consoles just fine but next year allegedly for new ones? Meh, too soon for me. Lots of games still keeping it strong. Maybe 2013/2014.
Couldn’t you send it in for repairs? Or is your warranty up?
It’s up alright. I’ve already sent it for repairs and I had to replace the power brick as well. So I guess it’s cheaper for me to buy a new one with bigger memory space then me keep on paying $140 or so for repairs elsewhere. I think the ps3 will keep me occupied for sometime until I decide to buy another~
God no…
I think there was a time where we would have all eagerly anticipated a Timesplitters 4. However, given the recent release of Crysis 2, and even the concessions to modern gameplay tropes (many not for the better) in Timesplitters 3, it’s pretty apparent to me that this isn’t going to be the Timesplitters that I know and love or even want. Especially if they’re trying to push it as a high-profile title like this. “Sandbox-style gameplay elements”? Sounds like Crytek’s sunk their claws in deep in a new money mine.
Yes, I know it’s a bit early to tell exactly what to expect, but you’ll have to excuse me if I don’t have a lot of faith in the game industry right now.
