Ubisoft‘s brought Rayman Origins back into the limelight today. Announced at E3 2010 as a downloadable title, the game has upgraded to a full retail release across PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii.
Headed by series creator Michael Ancel, Rayman Origins is a high definition 2D side-scrolling platformer, featuring over 100 characters, 12 environments, and 60 levels of gameplay. It promises “epic boss fights,” including a thousand-eyed giant pink monster, a mountainous golem, an evil daisy-cum-carnivorous plant, and more. Up to four players can play simultaneously in drop-in / drop-out co-op.
“When the Glade of Dreams is overrun by “nefurrious” Darktoons, the Fairy Council hastily invokes Rayman to save the day; but the hero of light isn’t quite all there…To help him, Rayman teams up with his best friend, Globox, and two crafty wizards, the Teensies. Together, the world’s most hilarious team of heroes will need to restore peace to the Glade or watch as their beloved home vanishes like a bad dream…”
Rayman Origins is out this holiday. Check out a new set of screenshots at the gallery.
