The Darkness II will launch on October 4, 2011 in North America and on October 7 worldwide, 2K Games has announced. A direct-sequel to the original, released for consoles and PC in 2007, The Darkness II continues the story of a suddenly attacked Jackie Estacado, now Don of the Estacado crime family, signaling for the start of a full-scale mob war.
Quad-wielding, which allows players to fire their pistols while simultaneously slashing, grabbing or throwing enemies with the demon arms, is one of the sequel’s big new features. It promises to engulf players in a sophisticated new system of combat, combining quad-wielding and dark versus light gameplay.
We were rather fond of the game when we demoed it for ourselves at PAX East in March. Red our impressions here.
A new trailer, pair of screenshots, and box art have been released alongside the date announcement. Check out the clip below. See the images at the gallery.
