PS Plus subs get cloud-based game saves tomorrow
Giving gamers more reason to become a PlayStation Plus subscriber, Sony’s announced today that cloud-based online game save storage will be available exclusively for subscribers with the v3.60 update arriving tomorrow, March 10.
Each PlayStation Network account can store up to 150mb worth of saves, which is about 1000 save files. It’ll support “copy-prohibited save data”, which may have been a nuisance prior, providing an easy way to get the once-locked save to another system. When it launches tomorrow, most of the PS3‘s current library will support the feature; of course, future titles will, as well.
Sony’s sent over instructions on how Plus subscribers can utilize the feature when it goes live tomorrow.
To back-up:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to back up.
3. Open up the option menu using “triangle” and select [Copy].
4. Select [Online Storage] as the destination of back up.To copy:
1. Select [Game] > [Save Data Utility] > [Online Storage].
2. Focus on the save data you wish to copy.
3. Open up an option menu using “triangle” and select [Copy].
Stay tuned. Hopefully, v3.60 will include more than solely the cloud-based saves.
