Level-5 planning 20 announcements for August
Level-5, developer of PlayStation 3‘s White Knight Chronicles and the platform’s upcoming Ni No Kuni, has told Japanese publication Nikkei Trendy to expect around 20 new title announcements at this year’s Level-5 Vision press conference.
Last year’s show saw 10 title announcements. Take in mind that the phrase ‘title announcements’ doesn’t mean they’re announcing 20 new games; they’ll merely be making 20 announcements regarding their upcoming titles. Sure, some of them are probably new game announcements, but don’t expect 20.
Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said to expect major surprises at this year’s event, even more so than last year’s reveal of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney, which they’re developing in coalition with Capcom. He also said to expect something that reaches out of the games industry, similar to PS3’s upcoming Ni No Kuni, which is being created in collaboration with anime movie maker Studio Ghibli.
Hino told the site that the company’s new Los Angeles studio, which opened last September, is planning its own titles, developed in North America. He hinted at them being downloadable games, saying he’s heard downloadable titles are rising in the North American market.
This year’s Level-5 Vision will most likely be held in August, he told the site. Stay tuned.
