Square Enix 1st Production Premier overview
posted on 01.17.11 at 08:01 PM EST by (@salromano)

It’s almost upon us. Announced and anticipated since September, Square Enix is holding their 1st Production Department Premier press conference in t-minus 8 hours.

While the conference is being held at 18:00 Japan time, a live stream of the presser won’t hit the net until two hours after. Luckily, live-updates such as those from the guy who runs FF-Reunion (most likely translated by Anoop Gantayat through here) will allow Square’s announcements to get out earlier than they’d want.

While we’re still on the subject of FF-Reunion, the site says Square will showcase seven games at the show, which are:

  • Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
  • Final Fantasy Agito XIII (PSP)
  • ??? – a new Fabula Nova Crystallis entry (Final Fantasy XIII-2?)
  • Dissidia 012: Final Fantasy (PSP)
  • Kingdom Hearts 3DS
  • ??? – an unannounced title
  • ??? – an unannounced title

We’re not sure where they obtained their information, but it’s all we have to run with at the moment. Of course, take the number of unannounced titles with a grain of salt.

Moving back to the live stream: we had originally found a mirror of Square’s live stream that we were going to embed in this post, but it’s since been removed. In order to watch the live stream at 20:00 Japan time, you’d have to be registered and selected via Japan’s Square-Enix Members accounts. It’s an annoying process (especially if you’re not fluent in Japanese) and it’s probably too late to be chosen now. Those unable to watch should be able to catch it on YouTube from the thousands of viewers that record it, anyhow.

The conference begins at 18:00 Japan time/4am EST, January 18. We’ll have all the news on our feed as it breaks.

Great I’ve been waiting forever for this conference!!
Square Enix better not disappoint us!
    Keep us updated!

Hope FF Versus XIII will get a release date, as well as FFXIII-2, and they better not screw it up.

A weird rumour regarding Fabula Nova Crystallis games:

While a Versus XIII multiplatform announcement does seem like a possibility, an announcement for two Xbox 360-exclusive Final Fantasy games doesn’t sound too probable.

      • Chaos Raiden

Yeah. I thought Square Enix are like, loyal to Sony and Nintendo? I don’t think Final Fantasy fans will take two Xbox 360 exclusive FF games in a positive way.

A release date for Versus would be awesome, hopefully in 2011, but i doubt it lol.

  • JTX09

Really hoping Versus 13 doesn’t go multiplatform. Love 360 and PS3, but a multiplatform VS 13 would mean a longer wait and a most likely crappy port for 360 owners. Nomura likes PS3 so they should keep it where it belongs.

I hope one of those ??? games is Kingdom Hearts 3 but I doubt it. Square usually fails me.

I’m with ya, be prepared for 360 fanboys disliking our posts, lol. Stay away Microsoft, Stay away.

Here’s a stretch. About a year ago, a tri-Ace director mentioned a new Star Ocean is in production: http://gematsu.com/2010/02/tri-ace-director-mentions-new-star-ocean

Could that be one of the mystery titles?

    • PJ_1983

I remember that being said, a new Star Ocean would be awesome since i really enjoyed The Last Hope.

I think now would be a good time to reveal ffxii fortress. It might even be final fantasy type 0, since it is rumored that square had western studios work with eastern studios on it.

Ah, how did I forget about that! I love Star Ocean as well!

I’m very interested to see if these rumors of FFXIII-2 are materialised, as well as this mysterious Type-0.

Seeing as I’m in the same time zone as Japan.. I should really take advantage of this and tune in. These unannounced titles intrigue me…
