Anarchy Reigns, revealed in this week’s Famitsu as Max Anarchy in Japan, has been officially announced for North America and Europe. Sega will publish the third-person multiplayer brawler, in development at Platinum Games, when it releases this fall for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game allows multiple players to get in on “heavy-hitting action” simultaneously online. It features a full-fledged single-player campaign, as well as a multitude of multiplayer modes such as Tag Team Battles and Battle Royal, where players can “challenge others in a full-on fight for victory.”

“Sega is delighted to continue their collaboration with PlatinumGames, one of the most creative and critically acclaimed developers in the world,” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing of Sega West. “Anarchy Reigns is set to offer gamers a fresh multiplayer experience with the quality and innovation PlatinumGames is renowned for.”

From a western gamer: PLATINUM* is the best developer in the world. VANQUISH & BAYONETTA are perfect masterpieces. They blow every other game away & then way beyond. I was hoping for a PS3/360 OKAMI spiritual successor next. & a single player focus. I’m not sure about this move. It seems like they tried to ‘westernize’ this one (which no Japanese developer should ever do). Is this Kamiya-san directed? Everything P* touches is gold though…

I suspect I’m the only person who didn’t like Bayonetta at all, and Vanquish was OK at best, probably why I had no interest to play through it twice.
