Tomb Raider Trilogy coming to PS3
by [@salromano] at 02:42 PM EDT, December 19, 2010 .

A Tomb Raider trilogy pack is on the way to PlayStation 3, Crystal Dynamics Global Brand Director Karl Stewart has confirmed today.

“Yes, it’s official. #TombRaider PS3 ‘Trilogy’ pack coming in the new year. Full details next week. Watch this space,” he wrote in an update today on Twitter.

The project was first leaked by Amazon Germany, leading Stewart to issue his confirmation. According to Amazon, it’ll contain Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Underworld, which is pretty exciting for PlayStation 3 owners as only the latter had ever made it to the platform. Legend and Anniversary debuted on Xbox 360 and PS2, but were never released for PlayStation 3.

Stay tuned for more details next week.

Hmm, I might have to pick this up even though I already own all those games. Thing is, I have Anniversary on PS2, it’s fine and all but I’d prefer it to be on PS3. Legend and Underworld I own on 360 but honestly…if the price is right, I wont be passing up on another collectors peice like this.

    • Yeah, it’s like the GoW Collection pack. Although, the GoW Collection pack (and the PoP pack) contained games released on PS2. While two of these Tomb Raider games (Legend and Anniversary) released on PS2, they also released on Xbox 360.

Their release dates are most likely what prevented them from appearing on PS3 in the first place (2006 and 2007). I’m assuming that Legend and Anniversary will be ports of the 360 versions. But I guess it’ll be nice for those who own a PS3 and haven’t played them before — or for those who can never back down to new trophies.
