First Journey footage revealed
by [@salromano] at 08:42 AM EDT, December 10, 2010 .

Last night’s episode of GameTrailers TV debuted the first gameplay footage of thatgamecompany’s latest PlayStation Network game, Journey. The company is responsible for past PlayStation Network hits flOw and Flower. The show paid visit to the developer’s studio in Los Angeles where company boss Jenova Chen shared a few words.

“One thing we want to try for Journey is to create this feeling between two complete strangers,” said Chen. “So it’s like you’re on a hike and you’re heading somewhere and on the path you might run across other players’ paths; and you guys could stay together or leave each other.

“It’s a little bit sci-fi, it’s a little bit fantasy,” he continued, “… our goal is trying to expand the experience games can communicate in.”

My most anticipated title besides THE LAST GUARDIAN. I truly LOVE thatgamecompany. JOURNEY will be their magnum opus. I still can’t believe there’s a team making visionary art games based on exploration / atmosphere / ambiance / & emotion WITH NO COMBAT! I’m not against violence in games, but this is what we need more of. More varied experiences..
