Ubisoft: “Another big Assassin’s Creed” for 2011
by [@salromano] at 06:34 PM EDT, November 26, 2010 .

Following Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot’s hint at a new Assassin’s Creed for 2011/12, Ubisoft EMEA chief of marketing and sales Geoffroy Sardin has confirmed a new release in the franchise for 2011.

“Yes, Yves [Guillemot, Ubisoft CEO] mentioned it last week in our financials – and more details will be forthcoming,” Sardin told MCV. “But what I can say is that next year we will have another big Assassin’s Creed game.”

The latest entry in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, did exceptionally well. Sardin says that the game was received much more positively by consumers (than Assassin’s Creed II) due to the game’s inclusion of a multiplayer component.

“Apart from the big marketing campaign that we started a few week ago, and which continues over the coming weeks, the main reason the game has succeeded is that we transformed the brand from a single player one to a multiplayer one,” Sardin said.

“If you compare [the 1m in a week] with last year’s ACII sales this is a big jump – so it’s a great achievement. It’s the best launch in the history of Ubisoft’s European sales, and our best-selling launch title ever.”

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is out now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. All of our coverage on the game can be read here.

Prince of Persia 2008 was just epic, even if you couldn’t die it was still one of the most fun and enjoyable games i’ve played this console generation. I just bought the Prince of Persia HD Trilogy and that just made my day.
I too would like to see a sequel to the Cell shaded Prince of Persia, alot more than another Assassins’s Creed. I don’t know what it is but i just don’t like Assassins’s Creed.

Actually I had forgotten about that PoP 2008. I agree, it was a great game in many ways and I would love to see sequel of it. I do love AC as well but I dont want it to turn into another ‘yearly milk’ franchise.

Different team does PoP, from what I understand. They decided to go with the Forgotten Sands, which was very disappointing to me.

I hope that in 2011, when they release the next PoP game they go with a sequel to the 2008 title.

I’m currently playing Brotherhood and loving it, it doesn’t surprise me to see this announcement. This is the best thing Ubisoft has going for them right now.

‘Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is out now for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.’ Uhh no it’s not… Brotherhood is out for PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version won’t be released until somewhere in Q1 2011.

I’m not a fan of Assassin’s Creed (or Ubisoft and Activision games for the matter) but I hope for the fans sake they don’t crank out an Assassin’s Creed every year like Activision does with its various franchises. I’m waiting when the Call of Duty sales drop and Guitar Hero already has hit its peak in sales.
