If Namco Bandai’s multiple trademark registrations didn’t give it away, we can now confirm that Tales of Xillia is the official name for the new and upcoming Tales mothership title for PlayStation 3.
The news comes via a new sub-domain from Namco Bandai’s official Japanese site: tox.namco-ch.net. For all of Namco’s Tales games, their sub-domain is the game’s abbreviation followed by namco-ch.net. For example, Tales of Vesperia‘s sub-domain is tov.namco-ch.net and Tales of Graces F‘s is tog-f.namco-ch.net.
Were someone to insert a letter of an unannounced game — say tof.namco-ch.net — then the site wouldn’t work. The ‘tox’ link, on the other hand, works — albeit leads to The Idolmaster 2 developer 765 Productions’ website (originally accessed by: 765pro.jp) for the time being.
Combining these facts — Tales of Xillia is the name of PlayStation 3′s new Tales game, which will be fully revealed on December 15, according to the placeholder site’s countdown clock.
Officially announced in early August, Tales of Xillia promises to break new ground. Its art style will be different from past Tales games. It’ll have a focus on the contrast between light and shadow. The team’s said the game will blow you away.
We’ll hear more next month, when the formal reveal occurs.
Thanks, Tales Union.

I really hope this game comes stateside. The art makes it the only tales game besides Abyss that has truly caught my attention.
The TALES games have incredible art direction. My only wishes are a MANUAL ROTATABLE CAMERA & A JAPANESE VOICE TRACK OPTION. PLEASE…
come on!! at least share this “Tales of” with us!!
A manual rotatable camera would make the game fully 3D, instead of 2D. I don’t think there’s been any full 3D Tales games yet? (Well, all battle scenes are in 3D).
Here’s hoping it’ll get localised. Maybe a parallel release with Japan, similar to what they did with Vesperia? Yeah, i’m dreaming..
damn it why Namco why won’t you release this on the West. it’s the only major JRPG that hasn’t made it in the west besides Xenoblade. if niche titles like Altelier Rorona and Death Smiles can make it to the West. why not Tales? just look at how many tales games we had missed in the past years.
Tales of Vesperia
Tales of Graces F
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology 2 and 3
Tales of Versus
Tales of Phantasia X
and other PS2 Tales games(Symphonia comes into mind)
looks like this one is aiming for a more Versus XIII like scheme. more darker and a more serious tone this time. at least Publushed Vesperia, Grace F and Tales of Xillia namco .
Very true. If something as niche-marketted at Ateliar Rorona can “survive” in the West, it should be more than enough to tell Namco a market is here. Something like Tales of Graces F and especially this which reads like it’s going to be something different, are sure to do really in western countries the same as Japan!
We really cant say Namco without saying “Localization” – can we?
I wouldn’t say a ‘darker’ tone since they specifically said they’ll focus on lighting as well and contrasts.
that’s the point, Versus XIII also will concentrate the balance between light and dark.
much like Noctis and Stella’s relationship.
i wouldn’t be surprised if Tales of Xillia get’s release first before Versus XIII
@PrinceHeir Atmospherically, sure. Thought you were talking on part of a ‘darker’ narrative said to be accompanying Versus XIII.
One can only hope someone at Namco-Bandai has a brain, searches on google for 5 seconds to see a large fanbase wants more tales of games from Japan, and does something about it! Just copy what other good companies do to sell JP games (Atlus) and you will sell some copies, enough to warrant the localization, I guarantee it.
Now we pray…
fuck you namco
why dont they bring those to the west??
such an awesome games
Doesn’t matter to me. as far as I’m conserned, all of these games have the same name: “Tales of Never Coming to U.S.”
oh but wait!! We get Splatterhouse!!!! F U Namco
