Source: “Multiple parties” interested in buying Bizarre
by [@salromano] at 02:34 PM EDT, November 17, 2010 .

The future might not be so grim for Activision’s recently shut down Bizarre Studios. According to an anonymous source from within the Liverpool-based studio, “multiple parties”, including Microsoft, are interested in buying the developer.

Activision apparently had a second meeting discussing the studio staff this afternoon.

“That meeting really lifted the mood here, I think, because we’ve been told that there’s multiple parties interested in buying us,” the anonymous source told Develop.

“We are still on consultation for ninety days,” he added, “but things look much better than they did last night or this morning.”

“Things here are changing at such a quick pace.”

While the source quoted above refused to name parties interested in buying, a different source at the studio revealed Microsoft is one of the batch.

“Microsoft aren’t stupid,” he said, “they know we’re talented and have spoken to Activision about us.”

We’ll see how everything unfolds.

I’m happy that they are getting offers already, but I would rather they get bought from a 3rd party.

Say, EA loves sticking it to Activi$ion, maybe they should “Aquire” Them.

I really hope it isn’t Microsoft, I’d really hate to see such a great developer tied down to one system, but then again it’s far better than the alternative of them ceasing to exist :/
I’m surprised to say this myself but EA would probably the most promising of third parties (I probably would have told you they were the devil incarnate 2 or 3 years ago but Activision seem adamant to secure that throne for themselves -_-).
Whatever happened to the Activision of less than a decade ago who released such great (and relatively niche) titles as Lost Kingdoms?
