Kinect’s reached its first sales milestone. Microsoft’s announced that the hands-free motion controller has sold over 2.5 million units in its first 25 days. Last week’s day-after-Thanksgiving sale helped a great deal in reaching this achievement, according to Major Nelson.
“We are thrilled about the consumer response to Kinect, and are working hard with our retail and manufacturing partners to expedite production and shipments of Kinect to restock shelves as fast as possible to keep up with demand,” said Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “With sales already exceeding two and a half million units in just 25 days, we are on pace to reach our forecast of 5 million units sold to consumers this holiday.”
Christmas is in t-minus 25 days. Hanukkah begins tomorrow. Think Kinect will top the 5 million unit forecast?

I wonder how many of those have been happy with their purchase..
I mean, I know Microsoft couldn’t care less whether they are or not once they have their cash.
But it’s still interesting..
LoL. i got 1 for thanksgiving. Its was mad fun!!! for like 3 2 days. then i haven’t touched it again. playing it alone i feel stupid. playing it drunk is another thing
I’m not getting Kinect or Playstation Move. There’s already a system that does that and its outsold both of the systems and it’s the Nintendo Wii. Sorry Microsoft and Sony I think you are a little late to the party. I think Kinect is an interesting idea but it’s not my thing.
I never thought I’d say this but I do plan on getting Kinect and it’s for the one game I loved to hate but now can’t wait to play: Dance Central.
My wife saw it and immediately got excited about the possibilities. I might even pick up that Yoga game for her too.
Not sure how much I’ll actually use it but my guess it’ll be more than the Wii that’s still in its box after our recent move.
Looks like Kudo’s goal of selling more Kinects than iPads might actually come to fruition. I thought he was a bit crazy for saying they’d surpass iPads but it looks like they’re on track to make that happen. Granted the iPad is like 3 times the cost of Kinect so there’s more to the story of them selling more devices than Apple.
