Guillermo del Toro’s THQ game set for VGA reveal
by [@salromano] at 05:08 PM EDT, November 8, 2010 .

Knock one down for the Video Game Awards next month. THQ Core Games VP, Danny Bilson, has confirmed that movie director Guillermo Del Toro’s upcoming game is set to be revealed at this year’s award show.

“He’s a gamer who wants to make a great game,” Bilson said about del Toro, who’s directed films such as Pan’s Labyrinth and Hellboy, at this year’s IGDA Leadership Forum, “and has very interesting points of view and is partnered very closely with myself and my writing partner, Paul.” Bilson revealed that THQ “will be announcing the game title and the studio and all of that on the VGA awards in about a month.”

Wonder what it’ll be? I’d love to see an RPG from THQ. They’ve been performing especially well, lately, it seems. If a recent job listing is to go by, it looks like it’s an action RPG in development at Volition.

Thanks, JoyStiq.

    Everyone get ready for this.
This may be some of the most intriguing game news I’ve heard in awhile. Del Toro is a great creative mind. I smell a fantasy adventure with amazing characters. I may be bias..seeing as how Pan’s Labyrinth is in my top 3, or because I thought The Orphanage was one of the eeriest movies in recent memory. No need to say I’m excited.

This guy also is doing/did the creatures in ‘The Hobbit’ film…which will be made. Enough said.

This is seriously a dream come true. Del Toro is my favorite director / visionary artist of all time. I’ve been wanting him to enter the videogame field forever. A PAN’S LABYRINTH / HELLBOY-esque gothic fantasy PS3 / 360 title PLEASE. With Wayne Barlowe as art director….
