Massive Xbox.com overhaul coming tomorrow

A “massive facelift” is scheduled to arrive tomorrow for Xbox.com, Major Nelson‘s announced today. It’ll include a brand new design, support for Xbox LIVE’s nine new regions, and a host of new features including a browser-based Avatar editor.
Here’s what you can expect in full:
- Browser-based Avatar editor: Edit your avatar and preview avatar items before purchase.
- Combined views for messages, friend and game requests.
- Improved notification of your account subscription.
- Leverage Family Reports to understand what your family is doing and how they are using LIVE.
- Play web games with your Xbox LIVE friends on the web or on Windows Phone 7.
- Marketplace: More powerful search and more intuitive ways to browse and filter.
Major Nelson’s gotten up images of the overhaul on Flickr. Be sure to check them out.

Lookin’ good Microsoft, lookin’ good.
This new aesthetic (well not really new, the Zune is where this all started) is starting to grow on me. My guess is that Windows 8 will look a lot like this and I can’t wait for it. I’ve been hesitant to upgrade to W7 but if they make W8 look like the 360, the Zune and/or Windows Phone 7 I’m definitely taking the leap.
Hell, I’ll buy a new computer if necessary.
I like it! Love the new clean, easy to navigate feel of it and some of the new features seem quite interesting too (like the browser based avatar editting) Also the ‘improved notification of your account subscription’ sounds great to me – I always wanted it all in one, easy to get to place!
