Famitsu’s released list today containing the twenty games that they believe to be considered the ‘Greatest of All Time’, with their top game being Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for PSP.

Do you agree with the entire list? Or only some choices? Or maybe none at all? I definitely believe numbers 5-7, 10, 14 and 15 belong somewhere on the list. I can’t be too sure about the rest of it, though. How about you?

I thought Dragon Quest viii was better than IX. I agree FFXIII is a good game, but not to 20 of all time!
How come Valkyrie Profile isn’t on it? And what the hell is RE5 doing there?!
Meh famitsu is just a sell out anyway, number 1-3 (with 9 and 16 just hammering the nail in the coffin) prove that beyond doubt. And other stuff like KH:BBS over the original or number 2. Just sad.
Their taste is completely different from mine. Chrono Trigger would have been Top 3.
Well, I definately do not agree with the majority of the list. I have no idea what the likes of RE5 are doing there for a start…
It seems more like a personal favourites or GOTY list than a collection of what they deem the “best of all time”. It reminds me of when (mostly younger) gamers exclaim that COD MW2 or some-such is the “best game ever made”.
I would agree though 5 belongs on the list, as does 10 and 15. The rest though – though many are obviously high quality expereicnes, are they really the greatest of ‘all time’?

That list is so terrible that its not even funny. Have they never played any old-school games? That is a pathetic list.
Hmm, so apparently Fighting Games/Shooters don’t count as being on the ‘best of all time’ list according to Famitsu, but it’s okay to have half the list (or more actually) taken up by the same flipping genre!?!
So Street Fighter 2/Tekken 3/Ace Combat 3 & 4 not to mention a slew of SNK masterworks never happened eh? This list is so cliche it’s embarrassing. They managed to get Okami and Metal Gear Solid on there, so points for that. But even Resident Evil 5… why 5!?!? I mean, seriously, that’s as good as Resident Evil gets is it now? Funny, Resident Evil 4 didn’t seem like such a bad game, and at the time Resident Evil 2 was pretty epic, hmm… )_)
I guess this list is just someone’s preference in Famitsu.
Because you would think Famitsu’s proper ‘Greatest Games’ list would mainly constiute of the games they have given perfect review scores for.
At least this list shows the differences between Japan and the US in video games. The list does seem biased. The American equalivilent to this list would either have Call of Duty or Halo games instead of Monster Hunter.
Although this is quite true, in their ‘official’ reviews, Famitsu gave CoD:MW2 a 39/40. A pretty darn impressive score.
