Xbox 360′s new dashboard and Avatar editor in video
by [@salromano] at 08:52 AM EDT, September 14, 2010 .

The Xbox 360 dashboard is getting a new look with the release of Kinect in November. It’s very similar to the current design, but a bit flatter, as the current design is a bit more 3-dimensional. It also has a very sexy new boot-up sequence.

A recently released video shows off the new dashboard as well as the Avatar editor. Check it out below and be sure to leave your comments.

Personally, I like this new dashboard better. Seems a lot more simple.

The avatar editor is definitely better and I like the soft “Pay it Forward” sounding music in the background.

As for the dashboard itself I still think the tiles are too big and they appear to be even bigger than before. The overall visual style is very appealing and is a lot friendlier than the PS3 or even the old-tube-television-wall that is the Wii’s dashboard but I think the tiles need to be smaller.

It would be nice if MS put an option in there to make the tiles smaller. I’m sure it’ll be mandatory so I’ll eventually get used to it.

I like it! It looks clean and tidy, and has soft, satisfying feeling sounds. It also looks more simple to navigate than the NXE, but that may just be me (I still to this day find NXE to be a jumble)

The avatar editting also looks a lot better, as does (imo) the general theme and colour scheme. Boot up sequence looks brilliant too. All round, I can’t find anything to complain about
