Tecmo Koei’s used the Tokyo Game Show as a time to announce the development of Ninja Gaiden III today. The game was revealed behind closed doors in Tokyo earlier today during a private Tecmo Koei presentation with the media. It’s so early into development that the publisher only provided the press with a single piece of artwork for the game.
In said artwork (high-res here), we see a bloody Ryo Hayabusa pulling off his mask. Tecmo hinted at the artwork representing Ryo’s human side, as well as the fact that we may learn more about him as a character.
Let’s analyze the image a bit. In his left eye, there appears to be the reflection of a person. Under his right eye, there is a peculiar mark of blood different from the rest of the blood on his face. It stands out, sort of. Wonder what they could mean?
Tecmo didn’t announce a release date or even share the game’s platform, but they said to expect more on Ninja Gaiden III early next year.

hopefully it won’t collaborate with western developers. let’s keep the franchise on roots as possible.
would be funny if Ninja Gaiden 3 is exclusive for some time for the 360, then comes Sigma 3 PS3 with more content and bug fixes.
Ever since Itagaki left, team ninja seem to be more interested in the PS3 which in my opinion is a better choice but team ninja will not forget there 360 fans so expect a multiplatform release. I would have liked to have seen anew Dead or Alive since we haven’t seen one in awhile.
I think Ninja Gaiden III is the perfect opportunity for a multiplatform release. When Ninja Gaiden II launched exclusively on Xbox 360, Itagaki was still at the company. It wasn’t until after he left that NGS II went into development.
Now that there’s no potential platform conflict with NG III, I expect it’ll be announced for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
