LittleBigPlanet 2 pushed to January 2011 [Update]
by [@salromano] at 08:14 AM EDT, September 23, 2010 .

Media Molecule’s confirmed this morning that LittleBigPlanet 2 has been pushed from its November release date. Now slated for January 2011, the developer states the reason for the delay as a necessity in order to give players the “best experience imaginable.”

Media Molecule did mention that they’re going to “find a way to give more of you a taste of LBP2 prior to launch.” We’re not sure exactly how yet. More beta invites, I’m assuming.

It’s not all bad. Two months is nothing at all, really. Plus, with all the high-profile games releasing before the year ends, I’m sure you’ll no doubt be happy to save some money.

Oh sheesh. Damn. Bit annoyed by this. This was going to be part of a friend’s christmas present…

Now I’ll need to think of something else instead…
And get him this next Christmas.

Still, I’d want them to get everything right before releasing it..

They probably discovered some hiccups during the beta that need to be addressed. That’s what betas are for.

But my guess is that the issues they found are probably severe enough that they have to delay the official launch.

Better to delay it than to have thousands if not millions of pissed off gamers thereby tainting the LBP legacy. No one else is competing in this genre but all it takes is for them to flub something big enough to force a competitor to address it.
