Kinect’s object scanning planned for later
by [@salromano] at 07:44 AM EDT, September 9, 2010 .

When Kinect was first announced back at E3 2009, one of its cooler features was the ability to scan real world objects into your game. This was demonstrated in both the Milo and Kate video as well as the trailer for Kinect, where a young boy scanned in his skateboard. The feature won’t make launch, though.

“Being able to digitize real-world objects and take them into the virtual world – we saw a little bit of that at E3 last year, but it’s not stuff that we have in any of the launch games right now,” Microsoft’s Kudo Tsunoda told Eurogamer, “and I think we’re going to see a lot more games start using that as well as we go forward.”

Who knows? Maybe we’ll see this implemented in Skate 4 if it ever releases, or Tony Hawk 12, for that matter.
