SCE exec teases PlayStation Room 299

SCE Benelux’s Dave Epke has teased a new project titled Room 299 on his Twitter account recently. From that update, we managed to find our way to Room 299‘s official site pretty easily. What you’ll see there is the image above. Not much hints there, though, as you can clearly see.
We won’t go guessing what it is. Whatever it is, it’s “coming soon”. We’ll await more details.

I would guess that it’s a new store to rival the Microsoft stores but I don’t think the MS stores are doing all that great and secondly Sony already has the Sony Style stores that feature all their products including Playstation stuff.
My hope is that they’re relaunching Home and calling it Room with an emphasis on gaming or maybe just something that’s more compelling than Home is right now.
I can’t remember the last time I logged into Home and I have no intention of logging in any time soon. And I’m more a hardcore user so just imagine people that are casual gamers. They probably don’t even know what Home is. They probably reboot their system too thinking that Home causes crashes since it takes well over 10 seconds before you get the Home splash screen.
The only thing I could mention that might have something to do with it:
PS3 costs $299.
Perhaps it’s a marketing push? “Have an awesome living ROOM for only $299!”
