Mafia II demo hits Xbox LIVE Marketplace
As promised, the demo for 2K Czech’s Mafia II went live on the Xbox LIVE Marketplace this morning. Weighing 1 gigabyte in size, the “hot-leaded” demo sees Vito and Joe on one of their first serious assignments, dealing with “a chump who isn’t playing ball the way the Mob likes it.”

I’ve just finished playing it, and was left with very little impression. The free roaming feels absolutely stellar (though it’s limited to 10 minuites in the demo), but the shooting segment felt badly realised and didn’t control well for me. it could have just been me, but something felt rather archaic about the cover system, and the shooting, apart from with the shotgun, lacked the ‘punch’ I was expecting.
I realise it’s only a demo but I don’t think this will be a Day 1 purchase for me now, I’ll wait until I can find a copy for cheaper somewhere.
