EA has “no plans” to bring Mass Effect 1 to PS3
After Mass Effect 2‘s PlayStation 3 announcement today, a lot of people are wondering whether or not that means the first Mass Effect is coming, as well.
Unfortunately, not at the moment.
Electronic Arts has told IGN.com that they have “no plans” to bring Mass Effect 1 to PlayStation 3.
In other news, Sony is pretty excited to hear that the franchise has made its way onto their console, though.
“Mass Effect 2 is another great property coming to PS3 that will
compliment our PS3 line-up,” Sony told the site.
Mass Effect 2 launches on PS3 in January 2011.

While I am THRILLED Mass Effect 2 is heading toward the PS3, I can’t help but feel grossly disappointed on the exclusion of the original ME. Who wants to jump into Star Wars, watching Empire Strikes Back without having seen A New Hope? Nevermind the backstory being told via cutscene or through text history, if we don’t get to experience the open-ness of interplanetary space travel of the original, we’re missing out.
