Crysis 2, currently in development at Crytek, will release alongside two special editions come next year, publisher Electronic Arts announced today. Other than the standard edition, consumers will have the option of buying either the Limited Edition or Nano Edition.
Crysis 2‘s Limited Edition will include: preemptive access to five preset multiplayer classes; the ‘SCAR Hologram Decoy’ – a weapon attachment that allows players to project a holographic replica of themselves; a SCAR weapon skin, and one of over 250 platinum dog tags obtainable in Crysis 2’s multiplayer component.
Whilst both special editions will include the content above, ‘Crysis 2 Nano Edition’ is set to include a steel case, a 28 cm statue of the game’s protagonist atop of a New York taxi cab and a high-quality art book. This – clocking in at $149.99 (£119.99) – will be wrapped in a backpack imitation of the protagonist’s Nanosuit. Furthermore, this edition will only be available via pre-order – don’t queue up for this one, folks.
A multiplayer beta, announced exclusively for Xbox 360, will be held later this year.
Crysis 2 is set for release in North America on March 22, 2011, followed by the European release three days later on March 25.
