Sony’s readying the release of two new PlayStation 3 models for Japan. Starting the new CECH-2500 series, the 160GB and 320GB models will come into play later this month for 29,980 yen and 34,980 yen, respectively.
Both of the new models can be purchased in PlayStation 3′s original black color, however, the 160GB model is available in white, as well. Of course, that means Sony will be selling white DualShock 3 and vertical stands to match respectively priced at 5,500 yen and 2,000 yen.
Furthermore, a ‘PlayStation 3 Terrestrial Digital Recorder Bundle’ will also be available on July 29 consisiting of a black 160GB PlayStation 3 and the Torne DVR for 36,980 yen.
For those in Japan looking to get a bargain, the current 120GB models switch to open pricing tomorrow. That means retailers set their own price for the system. Bargain hunters, get ready!
The entire press release can be read through here. Check out shots of the new models at the gallery.

its seriously no point in showing this its not gonna come 2 the states yea its kool they giving more space but sony gotta get there head out of japan and look at the U.S and Europe because we want nice colors for our systems 2 yeah thats right im looking at the PSP
To be fair, it’s the afternoon of July 6 in Japan right now whereas in Sony’s US HQ, it’s right about 9pm.
If these models are coming to the States and Europe, which I don’t see why they wouldn’t (minus the Torne bundle), it’ll probably be announced tomorrow.
I wouldn’t say its pointless since ps3′s are region free and japan and the u.s. share the same blu ray region.
I’ll probably consider one of those.
I’m happy with my Fat PS3, bought it first day it was released
I bough 250gb slim recently, and to be honest i think 120gb would be perfectly enough for me. I just don’t need that capacity, but it’s good that they are still working on new models, upgrades etc. even if it means “just bigger hdd”
