Microsoft: Xbox 360 slim conceived before PS3 slim
by [@salromano] at 10:18 AM EDT, June 21, 2010 .

Last year’s PlayStation 3 slim had no influence on the announcement of Microsoft’s slimmer Xbox 360 at this year’s E3, according to Xbox worldwide product marketing manager, Ryan Moore.

“I think the decision to do this was made before their announcements last year,” Moore told CVG. “It’s part of the natural generation of a console to refine the components and make it sleeker and quieter and all that.

“I wouldn’t say it was directly related [to PS3 Slim].”

The Xbox 360 slim, announced at E3 last week, sports a 250GB hard-drive and internal wi-fi for a $299. It is available for purchase now.

He “thinks” it was conceived before the PS3 Slim? Either it was or it wasn’t.

Either way Engadget took the new model through its paces and the changes weren’t necessarily for the better.

The decibel level (current model is about 60 decibels and so is the new model) is about the same as the current model, the disc tray is still a cheap (and loud) piece of plastic and even more interesting is that the now integrated wifi adapter is still recognized as an external adapter.

With the cost of components down seems like they could’ve gone for a slot-loading drive. If the Wii can have it seems like it can’t cost that much to include that in a so-called revised system.

They did manage to get the power source inside so at least there’s no more power brick.

Funny though that they integrate wifi and copy the fat ps3 finish…. haha

Either way, its pretty much nonsense.
