Update: According to NetherRealm’s Hector Sanchez, reached out by Ripten, nothing has been confirmed regarding the final roster and everything seen at E3 is still a work in progress. There could be 26, there could be more, there could be less.

Original: A photo taken of Mortal Kombat 9 during an E3 presentation confirms that the game will have at least twenty-six characters to boot, with the potential of more characters making their way in through downloadable content after release.

Confirmed characters so far include: Scorpion, Mileena, Reptile, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Johnny Cage, Night Wolf, and Sector. These are only eight out of the twenty-six.
