Takeuchi won’t return for Resident Evil 6
by [@salromano] at 07:43 PM EDT, May 6, 2010 .

Resident Evil 5 and Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi has said that he doesn’t plan to work on Resident Evil 6 at all, citing the extreme pressure he felt when creating Resident Evil 5.

“Yes, it’s true we did feel extreme pressure – and Mikami-san’s shadow – after Resident Evil 4,” Takeuchi told Xbox World 360 magazine, referencing the creator of the Resident Evil series, who left the Japanese company in 2007. “However, because we were creating the sequel to this huge franchise we wanted to make our fresh direction clear.

“Personally, I don’t think I’m gonna deal with Resident Evil 6 at all – as far as the series is concerned I’m not planning to return until at least two more Olympics have passed!”

There you have it. What do you think? Resident Evil 5 released in early 2009 to generally positive reviews, but was criticized mainly for its control system and confusing split-screen co-op.

Thanks, CVG.

Good! Although I have 175 hours plus logged into RE5, 95% of that time was spent in Mercenaries and Versus. The team did to a good job with the controls, fully using all available buttons on the PS3/360 controller (unlike the PS2 port of RE4). But the story was god awful…

Lost in Nightmares would of made a better entry as RE5…bringing back Zombies like everyone wants, the reunion of Chris and Jill at a mansion with the keepiness of giant spiders, crimson heads, COMPLEX puzzles and being alone with no help except that of your partner…yeah, that would’ve made a much better experience.

RE5 was set up to be an online game with RE4 controls…and it did a good job of that…nothing more.
