Square Enix and Yahoo to announce new game Friday [Update]

Update: Unfortunately, it turns out it’s a browser game called Sengoku Ixa.

Original: Square Enix is readying the announcement of a new game this Friday in collaboration with Yahoo! Japan. The two companies launched a promo teaser site for the announcement today.

At the top of the site, a banner reads: “On May 21, we change Japanese history.” A bit below that, it says “Square Enix and Yahoo! Japan announce new game!”

Let’s not get too excited. Square Enix may be developing a browser-based game for the Yahoo! games portal. So if you see no update on this come Friday, than it probably has nothing to do with consoles.
