by [@salromano] at 01:53 PM EDT, May 26, 2010 .

Update: MCV is saying the details are accurate. CVG also has it on good authority that the name reveal is in order for E3.

Original: Microsoft’s Xbox 360 motion controller Project Natal will launch at $149 on October 26, 2010, according to a source of Edge Online‘s. The source did mention that the release date may change, though. They also revealed that the motion controller will finally be named during next month’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

Project Natal’s pricing is significantly higher than that of its rival PlayStation Move, which Sony has said will cost under $100 for a full package.

The motion controller will focus mainly on casual and family gamers when it launches, the source added.

“Microsoft expects to sell millions and millions of Natal units in its first year on the market so you can expect the software launch line-up to target non-traditional gamers,” our source said. “A major marketing campaign will also play a key role in attracting and educating the expanded audience about Xbox 360’s controller-free revolution.”

E3 is not too far off now. All will be answered then.

It feels expensive as it is, but we don’t yet know what exactly is going to be packaged with it, or even it’s true scope to be honest.

What’s interesting though is the empahsis MS are placing on Natal, coining it almost like a rebirth of the 360 in some way. Personally, I can’t see this happening, but it’s a very good sign to this generations’ longetivity imo.

Anyway, as you say, E3 is only round the corner, so all will be revealed!!!
