Bethesda has sent out new details and screenshots on id Software‘s upcoming post-apocalyptic first-person shooter, RAGE, today.
RAGE takes place in the not-too-distant future after an asteroid turns Earth into a pile of dust. The player enters this wasteland with a goal to rebuild the planet and work against forces such as gangs, mutants and the oppressive new government.
The game, similar to Fallout 3, is an open-world game featuring vast exploration and more than just a set story to follow. Expect to see side-quests, exclusive co-op modes, and online multiplayer mayhem. In the story mode, players will take on gangs, hordes of mutants, and use weapons like wingsticks, turrets, sentry bots, guns, remote-controlled bomb cars, and more.
Players also get to customize and upgrade very own doom buggy that they’ll drive around this vast wasteland. Customization goes as deep as parts, paint jobs and weapons. That’s right. Vehicular combat, baby.
Finally, Bethesda has finally given the game a release window: 2011. Not too far off, now, is it?
Keep your eye on this one. We’ll see it more in-depth at E3. Check out then new screenshots at the gallery.
