Nier began as an Xbox 360 exclusive

Nier began development as an Xbox 360 exclusive, Square Enix executive producer Yosuke Saito revealed during a recent interview with Inside Games.
“We were initially planning an Xbox 360 target,” Saito told the site, “which we expanded to PS3 multiplatform afterwards.”
When Nier released in Japan, Nier Replicant (the PS3 version) debuted at the top spot during its first week of sales while Nier Gestalt (the Xbox 360 version) sat at number eleven. More recent sales chart show Replicant at spot seven with 100,422 units sold and Gestalt no where to be found in the top fifty.
You can ask Square Enix if they made a good choice by making it a multiplatform title.
Thanks, Silent Chief.

Square-Enix is so freaken stupid this gen. When will they understand that there best market is on Nintendo and Sony consoles. How many failures does the XBox 360 have to have before they get that?
F**K YOU SQUARE-ENIX
The idea of make 360 exclusives really hurt Square in recent years maybe they can learn something of this Nier.
@kain81
i totally agree with u man Sqaure pinis is riding microsoft so damn much its becoming a headache after FFvs13 im done with them i promise u that final fantasy vs 13 will be my last fantasy
The only really good jRPG game for Xbox is Lost Odyssey, and it’s not even from Square…
When will they understand that their major audience sits in front of SONY’s product ? It’s sad that they’re brown-nosing Microsoft and Xbox minority ( i mean it as most jrpg fans tend to choose playstation 3 ) and start caring for the majority of their fans – those who has been buying their games for years ? Well, it’s high time they realised that.
Everything is going multi-platform these days if possible, it isn’t about loyalty to a company or whatever, it’s all about the money. Where in Japan the PS3 dominates over the 360, it is far more even in america and europe. So when the shareholders see that they could get more money going multiplatform, they try and make it happen. If Versus goes to the 360, the only reason will be for the money. I still believe Microsoft shelled out some cash to Square-Enix along with the tv ad’s for the 360 bundle for FF13. In the end the PS3 version was superior anyways. -_-
I think alot of you are taking this the wrong way. Square once said that they want to help all of this gen’s consoles. So some will be 360, and some will be PS3. That’s no reason to leave Square for good. If they did something really stupid, like stop making Final Fantasy, then I’ll leave them.
Uh no, I’ll leave them as soon as they stop making quality games, which is happening right now. Going multiplat right in the middle of development will fuck over a game.
Even FF XIII was underwhelming.
These guys keep trying to cater to the wrong market and pumping out one shitty game after another. I’m frankly getting tired of it. They can make great multiplatform titles if they begin the project knowing that it will be multiplatform and work there asses off to make a quality game. It’s like they been making one f*cked up decision after another.
If you want to make an exclusive make a f*cking exclusive, if your gonna do a multplat, announce the game a multiplat right at the very start and make a good multiplat game, not a half a$$ed one.
Sorry for the rant, I’m just getting fed up with them.
Rants are what fuel these sorts of discussions, my friend.
Ok, maybe they have a problem here and there about changing a great game to a lower game. Just give it time. Final Fantasy XIV looks good, and no problems with it yet.
