Basketball’s greatest player of all time, Michael Jordan, is rumored to appear as cover athlete on the NBA 2K11 box art, according to “multiple sources” of ESPN. If true, this will be the first time the game will feature an executive as its cover athlete, considering Jordan is taking over majority ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats. It would also be the first time a former basketball player took the spotlight, as well.

Not only will Jordan be on the cover; speculation suggests Jordan will be recreated as a playable character.

“Whispers” say that 2K Sports has been in negotiations with several of Jordan’s teammates and opponents on working to recreate the historic games between the Bulls and Celtics, Knicks and Cavaliers.

2K will unveil NBA 2K11 to the public come the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles next month. Hopefully all will be revealed at the show.
