A “bombshell” sequel in development at a western studio is to be announced by Capcom at E3, if recent rumors are to be believed.
Capcom has just recently reaffirmed their stance on western developers, only allowing them to develop sequels and ports rather than new properties. According to ShackNews’ Garnet Lee, their E3 “bombshell” will put it to the test.
“Boy, their E3 bombshell puts that to test,” Lee said on his latest Weekend Confirmed podcast. “I’m not going to spill it because I don’t want to make anyone mad, but boy their E3 bombshell puts that to test.”
In mid-April, rumors of Ninja Theory – developers of Heavenly Sword and Enslaved – developing the latest in the Devil May Cry series came about. If what Lee says is true, this may all tie in very well.
Thanks, CVG.

Ive always loved DMC although I thought DMC4 was a little lacking in places. That said I would be very pleased to see a new addition to the series, hopefully standing up to the franchise’s best (which imo were DMC1 and DMC3)
@TezChi
Totally agree with you.
DMC 4 WAS A PERFECT ART MASTERPIECE. I THINK THEY SHOULD KEEP ALL DEVELOPMENT JAPANESE (I DO LOVE NINJA THEORY THOUGH)….
I seriously hope its not a Devil May Cry title. I really hardly call it being a “big bombshell” since its not like they have held back on the series yet and they already released one this generation.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a Onimusha title which would be a much bigger surprise. A Darkstalkers title would be nice with the SSFIV engine.
Actually you’re right, a new Onimusha game would be fantastic and definately take people by surprise. I think the series is well overdue a new edition as well, so maybe it is Oni?
I could go for some more Oni as well. Dawn of Dreams kinda left us hanging…so a killer entry in the series would be nice.
Although I’m not too crazy about the “western developers for existing IPs” business. I love my games that come right out of Japan…and although new game concepts are nice…I don’t want some of my favorite games getting the boot over to other teams just because the series is already established.
We might see alot of good starts, bad endings to new games, IMO.
