Ubisoft: “Splinter Cell: Conviction is exclusive to Xbox 360″

Over the past few weeks, we’ve heard rumor upon rumor that Ubisoft’s Xbox 360 and PC title Splinter Cell: Conviction will be heading to PlayStation 3. Ubisoft has responded to and shut down those rumors today in a new Twitter update.
“Rumor control: Splinter Cell Conviction is exclusive to Xbox 360,” the publisher tweeted. “The PC version is coming out next week.”
It looks like that’s that. Or is it?

But what if the exclusivity is only a window? And what if the Ubisoft staff can’t even say that it’s “possibly” coming to the PS3 for legal issues?
I know if I were MS I would sue the pants off a developer that told people that the game was coming to the PS3 because it could impact sales as some people may buy a 360 just to play this game. If consumers got wind that it’ll eventually make it’s way to the PS3 it could impact MS in the long term as obviously buying a system means potential revenue streams from XBL and disc-based games.
If it does come to the PS3 maybe it’ll be a director’s cut style edition and maybe they can take this extra time to spruce up the graphics and use some of that PS3 power that makes Drake and Kratos look so darn good.
I dont like exclusives….this is stupid. It would be better if more people could play the game. The developer should be in favor here, not Microsoft…and the game would sell in bigger number if it were multiplatform – but if they prefer to give the profit to Microsoft, and not to themselves – it’s their business. Im not into Splinter Cell anyway so im not concerned, but it’s a shame…
If not for exclusives Drake and Kratos would probably look like, well, Sam Fisher.
The game may be a blast to play but pretty it is not. Not compared to Uncharted 2 or God of War III. Multiplatform means that you don’t get the best the system has to offer. In the case of the 360 there’s nothing the system offers that Sony’s doesn’t and with games like U2 and GoW3 the argument about which system has more power is becoming quite evident.
What I don’t like is that Splinter Cell has been a multiplatform franchise for years so to all of a sudden become 360 exclusive is a bit upsetting.
