PlayStation 3 gets portable HD monitor next month

Next month, Japanese accessory developer Hori will be releasing an officially licensed 11.6 inch PlayStation 3 HD LCD Monitor. The screen snaps onto the back of the PlayStation 3 and plugs in via an AV Multi Terminal socket.

The full specs for the monitor are as listed:

  • LCD Size: 11.6 inch wide
  • Display area: 256.125x144mm
  • Max Resolution: 1366×768
  • Colors: 262,144
  • Vertical view angle: Up 20 degreees, down 45 degrees
  • Horizontal view angle: Left and right 45 degrees
  • Brightness: 200cd/m2
  • Contrast: 500:1
  • Response time: 7ms
  • Formats: 480i, 720p
  • Backlight: LED
  • Video input: AV Multi Out Cable Connector (component input) x1, External input (component input) x 1
  • Audio out: Included stereo speaker, headphone jack x 2
  • Weight: 860g
  • AC Adapter weight: 120g

The monitor launches in Japan on May 27, 2010 for ¥26,040. Don’t look forward to a US release, as it isn’t very likely.

    It actually reads very well, shame that it doesn’t look like it will see a release in the West.

    It does looks like its designed for the Slim too, but most likely it will fit the regular size as well.

    @Ruki, probably compatible with both PS3 models, but i think you’ll be able to attach it only to slim one. But i might be wrong, or maybe they’ll release two versions.
