An announcement for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is coming in May, if a leak by Henaki of Team Spooky is to be believed.

It’s just a rumor, right? Well, Henaki is the same guy who leaked the Super Street Fighter IV character roster last summer and got every character right on the dot.

According to Henaki, the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 announcement was confirmed to him by multiple sources.

To further support Henaki’s leak, a Kotaku interview with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom producer Ryota Niitsuma revealed that Capcom is willing to make more versus games if the forementioned game sells well.

“I would love to do more versus series, more types of games like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2,” Niitsuma said. “There are all of these possibilities working with other companies, seeing what we could do with them. There are so many game companies I’d love to work with.

“If sales are really good (for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars) then you can see an announcement within this year,” he said.

Capcom’s annual Captivate event happens next week in Hawaii. Perhaps they’ll be bringing Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to the show a month early?

As per usual, take this as a rumor for now. However there’s something about this that makes me want to believe.

I kind of wish they would focus a bit on a single player component. It doesn’t have to be much, just incentives to play the game by yourself other than to see a couple of still images when you beat the boss.
