Edge Online has obtained the first details of Gears of War 3. As you know, Clfif Bleszinski was supposed to announce his latest game on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon tonight – but the announcement was delayed until Monday. In early March, Edge Online posted a rumor that Gears of War 3 would be announced on April 8, the same today that Bleszinski should’ve appeared on Late Night. If that’s not enough, the next EGM features Gears of War 3 right there on the cover (who may just be the publication providing Edge these details).

That being said, you should pretty much take these details as confirmed.

Delta Squad is equipped with explosives and going underground to take out enemy cover, according to Edge.

The third Gears of War will introduce heavy-duty mech suits that the COGs can use for protection and for their own chaos. The suit will be present in both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Gears 3 will be set during the summer where new environments, such as an underwater location, will take form. A jungle-like could also make an appearance in Gears 3.
