The sequel to Capcom‘s mall-trapped zombie title Dead Rising is almost with us. The game’s besting the original in every way, offering more gameplay, more gory and of course, more zombies.
“In the previous version 500 zombies would appear on screen at the same time,” Inafune told Capcom’s Investor Relations in a recent interview. “In Dead Rising 2, literally thousands of zombies will appear onscreen at the same time.”
“The world in this game features a town filled with casinos that resembles a district in Vegas. You’ll see a scene where you get on a motorcycle and race down a Strip Street literally crawling with zombies. This scene shocked more than a few members of the press (grin).”
Unlike the first Dead Rising, the sequel is being developed out of house at Blue Castle Games. This may worry some fans that the quality of the game wouldn’t be as top-notch as it should. Inafune says there’s no need to worry.
“Some users worry that using outside developers means the quality will suffer. But I think for the most part we were able to brush away those concerns. Establishing partnerships with overseas firms is going to be important for future business. Learning how to work together with foreign developers as a Japanese game maker is our first step towards becoming a true global corporation.”
Thanks, TVGB.
