Rumor: Xbox 360 slim model in the works

The above image is allegedly the motherboard for a new slimmer Xbox 360 model. The image shows that both the CPU and GPU have been combined into a single chip.
The leaked images come from Chinese BBS A9VG (via Kotaku). Apparently, testing on this new motherboard has recently completed in China.
Project Natal is set to launch by this holiday and Microsoft may want to do a relaunch such as the PS3 slim did last year – so a 360 slim would make a lot of sense. Whether it be true or not, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest on this rumor.

If this is true then MS is set to either have a really great holiday shopping season. But, will it be ready in time is the bigger question?
One thing is for certain: the 360 is probably the one console in history that has totally reinvented itself inside and out. Everyone has made slimmer/smaller versions of existing consoles but no one but Microsoft has reinvented their console from top to bottom like this.
One thing I’m sure people would like to see go away is the power brick and a quieter DVD drive. If this happens this could finally push me over the fence and get one.
I agree, the power brick is a complete beast. I can remember on launch day 2005 being actually shocked by how big and clumsy it was.
To this day I have the thing stood on a home made “plinth” to stop it overheating! Paranoid? Maybe….But I’ve been through 4 360′s so i can’t be too careful!
They probably should have done this a long time ago and fixed the rrod before it became such a nagging problem.
And I am also all for doing something with that brick of a brick..
