The sequel to 2009′s PlayStation 3 RPG, Atelier Rorona: Alchemist of Arland (2010 for the west), is well under way and preparing for a summer release in Japan. Atelier Totori: Alchemist of Arland 2, as the sequel’s titled, focuses on the thirteen year-old Helmolt Totoruria on a mission to find her missing mother, as well as become the adventurer she’s always desired to be.
Rorona returns in the sequel as Totori’s twenty-two year old teacher/mentor/whatever you want to call her. Then there’s Totori’s tagalongs Gino and Mimi – one boy, one girl.
Totori, as an adventurer, needs licenses to be permitted to venture further into the land. This is probably the game’s way of limiting access to the full world in order to gain it through time.
The visuals of the game have also taken a big leap, especially with the character models. There’s more detail and “shine” to them, judging by the screenshots.
What screenshots? These ones, at the gallery.
The game’s out June 24, 2010 in Japan.

just registered to say i’m looking forward to this game but waiting for Rorona
Brilliant screen shots, I’m loving the art direction of this game. Is there a release date for this in the West yet?
Nope.
Rorona is still on its way to the west, so I’m guessing next year for this one.
