Rumor: Killzone 3 due Christmas, supports 3D and motion controls
by [@salromano] at 10:21 PM EDT, February 22, 2010 .

According to “sources close to Sony”, PlayTM has uncoverd that Killzone 3 is on track for a Christmas 2010 release.

Apparently, the shooter will be one of this year’s high-profile games supporting both 3D and motion controls.

Take this with a grain of salt for now. Anybody feeling an E3 announcement?

So long as they don’t screw up the game trying to cram in motion controls I’ll be okay with the change.

Actually if this works it could be a huge leg up for Arc being a true step up to 3D controls. While it’s still possible I can’t see playing an FPS with Natal using nothing but my hands. Selecting different weapons or choosing to throw a grenade using Natal could be a tedious and/or sloppy process.

Maybe MS will prove me wrong but it seems like twitch controls like switching to a sniper rifle to a flame thrower, to a grenade and back to your main rifle — not to mention things like switching into infrared or night vision goggles — would be tough using nothing but your arms.

Having said that, Sony can’t just cram the controls in like too many clothes in a suitcase. They have to make the controls natural and fluid.

By the way, is it possible for Killzone 3 to look any better than Killzone 2? After Uncharted 2 it seems like it’s possible but it all depends on the talents of the artists and programmers.
