God of War III won’t require a mandatory hard-drive installation come March 18, Sony’s Santa Monica studio has confirmed. The game is the second game to use a dual-layer Blu-Ray, the first being Kojima Pro’s Metal Gear Solid 4, but still only requires only 5MB of your PS3 hard-drive. Metal Gear Solid 4 on the other hand required a hard-drive installation before every one of the game’s five acts.
The confirmation come’s from SCE Santa Monica’s Christer Ericson, who wrote in a Twitter update today: “God of War 3 does NOT do a HD install. The 5MB listed on box back is for save game only.”
With a dual-layer blu-ray disc and a promise of running at 60 frames per second most of the time, that’s an amazing feat. More PlayStation 3 developers should take notice and not impose these mandatory installations we see so often.
Thanks, PSUniversity.

Wow sounds great…This game is going to be amazing…its just too bad that FF13 is over shadowing it…
Both franchises are very well known. I think they’re both strong enough to release so close to each other and still do good in sales.
