What was once confirmed for a November 17th release in North America is now delayed, apparently. Sony’s confirmed that EyePet, their new IP involving an interactive virtual pet by way of the PlayStation Eye, has been delayed to 2010 in order to allow “additional time to continue educating consumers” on the product.
“The North American territory has decided to take additional time to focus on the EyePet product and can confirm it will not be available this holiday,” the statement read.
“EyePet is an innovative and exciting new IP to the PS3 platform and SCEA marketing will spend additional time to continue educating consumers and retail channels, setting the table for a successful product launch. We will provide more details on an updated launch timeframe very soon”
Sony has said they will provide more information on a new date soon. Whenever it does launch, it will be available as a game for $39.99 or as a bundle with the PlayStation Eye for $59.99.

Seems like a mistake to delay this. This seems tailor made for a holiday release. Kids clearing the living room floor of other Christmas presents to play with their Eye Pet, dressing him up and showing him off to grandma and aunt Susie who will sit in awe of the action on the screen.
Since I already have the Eye I’ll probably pick this up so my girls can have a pet in the house that they don’t have to clean up after (they barely pick up their toys so my confidence in their ability to clean up after a dog is slim).
