Are you too good to find “expert” difficulty a challenge in the original Left 4 Dead? Valve has you covered in the sequel with a new “Realism” mode they are introducing, spotted at a Left 4 Dead 2 event last night.

“Realism” mode brings the most challenging difficulty to the best players, going beyond what Valve testers can handle. They didn’t go much into detail, but I’m assuming everything’s just more realistic, meaning the amount of hits until you die, how precise your shooting must be, etc.

A new “Scavenge” multiplayer mode was also revealed last night, which pits four survivors against a horde of zombies and the survivors must kill them by bringing sixteen gas cans to a generator located somewhere in the level. Each gas can given to the generator adds 20 seconds to the clock and victory goes to whoever gets more cans to the generator.

Two new screenshots of “Scavenge” mode can be seen at the gallery.

Thanks, 1UP.
